Important
news for Children's NHS Dentistry
As
you may be aware, some major changes to NHS Dentistry are
due to be implemented in April 2006. This will affect all
NHS dental practices in England.
We
have offered NHS Dental care to under 18's at this practice
for 15 years.
Since
the publication of the draft NHS contract in September 2005,
we have done our utmost to secure a favourable solution for
our under-18 patients. With the support of over 100 dentists,
representing approximately 80,000 patients in the locality,
we have had thorough consultations with the Chief Dental Officer
from the Department of Health, South Oxfordshire Primary Care
Trust and local MP's. Unfortunately, a satisfactory NHS contract
could not be secured.
This
means that after 1st April 2006 we will no longer be able
to offer NHS dental treatment to patients under 18 years of
age.
Our
younger patients are important to us and we wish to continue
offering a very high standard of care. We have specifically
designed a private Dental Plan that will offer services over
and above those previously granted by the NHS, at a very reasonable
rate. Please see our 'Check the Costs'
section for more details.
